CMS Engineering Change Tracking (ECT)

Benefits

This submodule allows you to create, edit, and track the existence, approval status, and final disposition of an Engineering Change Request (ECR).

Both in-process and approved ECR's are visible at multiple, key points in the CMS system. Some examples of ECR visibility occur while:

• creating and releasing jobs,
• in a manufacturing job,
• in bill of material maintenance,
• in product maintenance.

When an engineering change is needed to a product, product configuration, or the product's manufacturing process, failure to track and approve those changes to the product's Bill of Materials (BOM) and/or production routing can be costly! ECT allows the user to implement, approve, and monitor BOM and production route ECR's through the approval process. This extra production control will help your company avoid some of the following problems:

• Excess, obsolete inventory
• Assembly, packaging, or inventory shortages
• Final assembly problems
• Missed customer delivery dates
• Poor product quality
• Poor product configuration control
• Wrong product costing

Mismanaged BOM changes can be a financial disaster. Documenting and monitoring ECR's (through the use of ECT) are the first steps in controlling your system.

Major Functions

• Define ECR Approval Types
• Define who can approve/deny ECR approval types
• For each ECR entered, define or edit what are relevant approval types
• Search the system for existing ECR's awaiting approval
• Allows users without approval authorization to view the ECR files with no update functions
• Allows printing of ECR
