The General Ledger module provides accurate, up-to-date accounting and helps to improve the financial management of your company. The system is designed to provide real-time financial information for management analysis and decisions.

Product Summary

The G/L module is designed to eliminate redundant data entry and improve data accuracy. When the General Ledger subsystem is installed in concert with other CMS modules, posting can be done automatically and immediately, independent of operator intervention. A detailed audit report which provides an audit trail is written by the system for each transaction which includes full descriptive text and identification of the user initiating the action.

Account history in summary or detail is available at the touch of a key. If you choose detail, you may retrieve information identifying posting date, actual invoice, check or other reference; even vendor, employee, or customer if applicable.

Three periods are always open simultaneously. This allows you to begin posting entries for the current period on the first day of that period, keep the previous period open for closing entries, and still be able to post accruals to the next period. Accounting periods are user-defined (12 or 13 periods per year). Year-end closing can be multi-level and deferred for up to four periods.

You also have the ability to export G/L data to another file (or system). With "GLEXPORT", you can create a second G/L detail file that includes additional data such as customer country code, part class, and vendor type. You can report on this export file through 3rd party reporting software packages.

Features

General Ledger features include a user-controlled account code structure which accommodates reporting by cost center, region, department, and division or whatever other grouping you require.

The system provides complete standard (recurring) journal entries with optional automatic reversal and general journal postings. On-line balance checking and multiple monthly or yearly budgets are available.

Standard financial statement formats are provided.

In addition, user-defined formats are provided allowing maximum flexibility in matching existing corporate formats. Comparison to budgets with percentage and dollar variance calculations are user-selectable options.
