CMS Order Processing

Benefits

The CMS Order Processing module provides the ability to commit to realistic delivery dates at the time of placing a customer's order. It provides the visibility to control customer orders from initial order receipt through the on-schedule shipment of the finished product. The Order Processing module helps to improve the speed, ease, and accuracy of order entry and revision through user-defined defaults and menus. It provides on-line access to current order status and information.

Product Summary

Due to the unrivaled real-time planning capability of the Order Processing module, this system has been coined Market Driven Manufacturing Planning. As new customer orders are received, their delivery dates can be checked for feasibility, credit can be verified, appropriate pricing algorithms applied, and plans can be launched for fulfillment of your customer's demands.

Your Manufacturing Management, Inventory Control, Sales Analysis, General Ledger, Quotation Management, Option Processing, Lot Control, and Accounts Receivable modules can be automatically and dynamically updated or accessed from this module.

Sales Order Entry Features

The CMS Order Processing module offers the following management features:

  • On-line input, review and analysis of all sales order functions.
  • User-controlled checking of current or future available-to-commit inventory, available credit, department approval, valid parts and mandatory options specification.
  • Instant recall of specific sales orders, customer purchase orders, and current backorder status.
  • Independent order date, release date, and shipping date control.
  • Efficient rapid sales order entry with full screen prompting.

Available to Produce

CMS allows feasibility testing of the requested delivery date to occur at the time the order is taken. Sometimes this testing is done while the customer is still on the telephone. All levels of the bill of material or formula are exploded to test for materials, and simultaneously testing workcenter capacity. If it appears that the delivery date cannot be met, the person taking the order is advised:

  • why the planned delivery date cannot be met;
  • how soon after the requested delivery date the order can be filled, without changing current plans and schedules;
  • and, if split shipments are allowed, what quantities can ship and when.

In addition, the Order Processing Module:

  • Automatically integrates with other CMS application functions;
  • Maintains individual line-item control;
  • Provides direct pegging of sales orders to customer purchase orders;
  • Maintains complete customer master files;
  • Automatically extends line-items and sales-orders for quantity, taxes, and discounts;
  • Allows user-controllable pricing by part, line quantity, line value, sales order quantity and sales order value;
  • Allows for multi-level sales commission calculation and reporting.

The Order Processing module provides ship-to addresses independent of bill-to addresses, partial or full shipments by line item or sales order and multiple free-form comment lines and text blocks.

Option Processing / Product Configuration

Option Processing provides the user with complete build-to-order capability.

Option Processing Features

The CMS Option Processing function allows you to streamline order entry for build-to-order situations, while reducing the number of bills of material required by traditional systems. Parts with options are so indicated in both the inventory master file and the bill of material file. When a part with options is specified in sales order entry, a prompt screen for the selection of options is displayed.

Options can then be selected or deferred until planning occurs.
